New Worker’s Compensation Fee Schedule Additions

We try to stay up to date here, but the New York State Worker’s Compensation Board is at it again. This time we are receiving two new sections of codes, each with their own ground rules and guidelines.

Acupuncture, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy now have their own sections in the larger Medical Fee Schedule.

This is according to an email I got from Optum which let me know that there was an update.

These new sections will impact care delivered on and after January 1, 2020.

Acupuncture has one section, and Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy have another shared section.

Within each there are separate Ground Rules and Guidelines.

The PT & OT section only has a Physical Medicine list of codes, while the Acupuncture section has Physical Medicine, Evaluation and Management and a Medicine section, each with their own codes.

I believe, but cannot be certain that the fee schedule listed here
https://www.optum360coding.com/product/48505 should be complete and up to date if purchased today.

I strongly encourage all of my No-Fault clients to stay up to date and to own the most current version of the Worker’s Compensation Fee Schedule so that they can be sure to be in compliance with 100% of the No-Fault regulations.

Just like the last time the Worker’s Compensation Board changed the fee schedule, I strongly anticipate that the New York State Department of Financial Services will take action to clarify if and when these new sections will begin to impact No-Fault care and billing.
